In This Section

This term, Year 5 have been learning about the impact of plastic pollution on our river, oceans and marine animals. We were shocked by what we found out and decided to write letters to supermarkets encouraging them to reduce their plastic packaging. We then took inspiration from Greta Thunberg and started writing our own speeches to convince people to buy less plastic and to recycle more

Year 5 spent the day being Romans. They trained as Roman soldiers, got to be gladiators, jewellery makers and even had time to play games together.

This term, year 5 have been learning about dinosaurs. The children carried out their own research into their favourite dinosaur and have been busy writing their fact files. Today the children are publishing their fact file.

Year 5 have enjoyed 7 weeks of gymnastics with Jazz from Little Springers. They have learned many skills including balances, jumps, turns, headstands, handstands, cartwheels, round-offs.

Year 5 have been learning about musical notation. They used 2simple composition to create their own piece using crochets and quavers.

Moon phases

Year 5 have been learning about the phases of the moon, using Oreos. Delicious!

Year 5 have been writing historical fiction based on the story ‘Escape from Pompeii’. They wrote their own version of the story. Here are some of their paragraphs to read.
