Autumn 2

Our Topics:

Celebrations & Christmas

During our Celebrations topic we learnt about Halloween, Bonfire Night and Diwali. We created Rangoli and firework patterns, counted different fireworks, wrote silly spells for Meg the witch, cuddled up around our Bonfire and read stories and used tweezers to pick out yucky things from a spooky cauldron!

Anti-Bullying Week –

During Anti-Bullying week we took part in lots of circle times to show our understanding and learn about other people’s feelings. Miss Bass gave us a special ‘Box of Kindness’ which we have enjoyed filling with names of people who have shown us kindness.

We have been trying really hard to form our letters and numbers correctly this term. We have enjoyed practising them and building up our finger muscles by writing in mud with sticks in the garden and on the playground using chalks with a friend.

Christmas Topic:

We have really enjoyed our Christmas topic! We have been making and writing Christmas letters and cards, decorating our tree and acting as Santa and his elves in the role play area! We have also performed our Christmas concert – ‘The Nativity’ to our friends and family, they were very proud of us! Here are just some of our wonderful costumes created by our family members.

Our British Value: Democracy:

This term we have been concentrating on exploring our British value democracy! We have been doing lots of voting in different ways and understanding that it is ok to vote for different things and sometimes we don’t always ‘win’ our vote. Here we are voting for what Christmas decorations we would like to do for our Christmas tree festival which was displayed in St Mary’s Church. It was close but…‘Snow’ was the winner!

This term we have been very lucky to have Kat come in and teach us how to use and ride a balance bike safely. We were quite wobbly at the start but soon got the hang of steering them safely at a good speed in and out of obstacles! We all received a special sticker and certificate for taking part in our 3 week training!  We have also enjoyed having Charley come in to teach us Tennis! We had so much fun learning how to control the ball and practicing skills such as co-ordination, aim and balance. We were hitting lots of balls over the net by the end of Autumn term!
