Mrs Ward

miss wardI am Mrs Ward and I am Acting Head here at Swallowdale.  I enjoy supporting Year 2 and Year 6 with their booster groups.  I trained at Leicester University and have been teaching since 2000.  I have taught Year 1, 3, 5 and 6 in this time and have also found the time to have 2 gorgeous children!  I really enjoy teaching all subjects but particularly enjoy literacy, science and art.  In my spare time I sing in a choir which I love!  I have a mad dog called Fern, who walks me on frequent occasions and my remaining time is spent with my lovely family.

 
 

Miss Fudge

I am Miss Fudge and I teach in Reception with Miss Cross.  I currently lead the 'EYFS' team as well as studying for a Masters in Childhood Studies and Early Years.  I completed my teacher training at York St John University in 2012 and came to Swallowdale for my first teaching job.  As well as teaching I enjoy spending time horse-riding and listening to different types of music.  

Miss Cross

misscrossI am Miss Cross and I work in Reception with Miss Fudge.  I studied at the University of Derby gaining a BEd.  Most of my placements were in the Derbyshire area and I was lucky enough to start here at Swallowdale in 2015 in Reception.  In my spare time I love shopping, swimming and eating fizzy sweets!  This is Sam, he is our class bear who loves to go home at the weekend with our star of the week.

Miss Charles

miss charlesI'm Miss Charles and I teach in Year 1 with Miss Shaw.  I trained as a teacher at Northampton University and gained a BA in Education with qualified teacher status.  My specialist subject was PE and I enjoy all forms of sport.  I worked in Peterborough for five years before joining Swallowdale in 2004.  In my spare time I have several hobbies, mostly involving exercise, such as jogging, cycling and swimming, as well as reading and cooking.  At the weekends and in the holidays I spend a lot of time running around after my daughter!  Family and friends are extremely important to me and I spend as much time as possible with them.

 

Miss Shaw

jennyI am Miss Shaw and I work in Year 1 with Miss Charles.  I trained at Leicester University and began my teaching career in a school in Leicestershire, then moved to Swallowdale in 2014.  I am excited to be working in such a fantastic school!  In my spare time, I love to travel and have been to South America, North America, Australasia and Asia in my quest for adventure.  I also enjoy singing, especially around my classroom. even though the children in my class are not too impressed with my efforts!

Mrs Brown

I'm Mrs Brown and I teach in Year 2 with Miss Taylor. I am also Assistant Head and lead the Key Stage 1 team. After working for Barclays bank for 15 years, I decided I was indeed ready for a change of career.  I embarked on a part time degree course at Northampton University and four years later gained a Ba (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies.  During this time I worked as a Learning Support Assistant, here at Swallowdale, where I gained invaluable experience.  I left Swallowdale in 2006 to complete my teacher training at Leicester University and then was lucky enough to come back to Swallowdale in 2007 for my first teaching position.  Any spare time that I do have, involves my twin daughters and their very hectic social lives! 

Miss Taylor

hannah smallI am Miss Taylor and I teach in Year 2 with Mrs Brown. Coming from two generations of teachers, I trained at University College Northampton for 3 years and gained a BA (Hons) Teaching Degree.  I have now been at Swallowdale since 2005 and love working here as it is such a happy and friendly school.  I enjoy art and photography but never seem to have the time to indulge!  This is my friend Doug...he keeps a watchful eye over my class and is partial to the occasional carrot!

 

Mrs Walters

Miss M new

I am Mrs Walters, I teach in Year 3 with Miss Green.  I studied for an LLB Law degree at Nottingham Trent University before completing my PGCE.  I secured my first teaching post here at Swallowdale in 2013 where I started in Year 3.  In my spare time I enjoy reading, going to concerts and walking my crazy Yorkshire Terrier called Poppy!

 

 

Miss Green

charlottegreenI am Miss Green and I teach in Year 3 with Mrs Walters.I gained a degree in Psychology at Leicester University before completing my PGCE there last year. I am thrilled to have secured my first teaching post at Swallowdale. In my spare time I enjoy getting stuck into a good book and visiting my friends and family.

Mrs Edwards

mrs edwardsI am Mrs Edwards and I teach Year 4 with Mrs Partridge.  I am Assistant Head here at Swallowdale and lead the team in Key Stage 2. I studied for my BA degree at Newcastle University, for my MA Degree at Leicester University and completed my teacher training at Loughborough.  If I am fortunate enough to find any spare time, I enjoy being out walking in the fresh air with my mischievous dog, watching football or films and geocaching with my family.

Mrs Partridge

Mrs P newI am Mrs Partridge and I teach in Year 4 with Mrs Edwards.  I completed the Graduate Teacher Training Programme at Nottingham Trent University in 2012.  I initially taught in Leicester City and moved to Swallowdale in 2013.  In my spare time I enjoy musical theatre, cricket, jiu jitsu and having fun with my two beautiful children.  

 

Miss Shortland

poppyI am Miss Shortland, I teach in Year 5 with Miss Thompson. I studied a BA(hons) degree in Music at Manchester Met University before carrying out my PGCE.  My hobbies include going to concerts, playing the flute and travelling to different countries. Before completing my degree I took a gap year travelling around Africa, experiencing a different culture. I was lucky enought to start here at Swallowdale in 2014 in my first teaching placement.

Miss Thompson

I am Miss Thompson and I teach in Year 5 with Miss Shortland. I studied Primary Education at Bedford University and taught in other Leicestershire schools before joining Swallowdale in 2016. I enjoy taking part in lots of different sports, particularly cycling, running and netball. In my spare time, I also like trying out new recipes and reading different books.

Mrs Nicholls

kristieI am Mrs Nicholls and I teach in Year 6 with Miss Bass.  I studied at Warwick University , specialising in Maths Education and I gained a BA QTS (hons) degree in 2001.  After my first year of teaching I decided I wanted to go back to Warwick University where I obtained my MSc in Mathematics education which I studied part time. I began teaching at Swallowdale in 2014 in year 5.  My spare time is taken up with being a taxi for my two children and taking part in lots of sport, open water swimming and cycling are my current favourite!

Miss Bass

lizzieI am Miss Bass and I teach in Year 6 with Mrs Nicholls. I started here at Swallowdale in September 2015 and I am very excited for what lies ahead. I studied Primary Education at the University of Cumbria and was based in Carlisle for three years. My previous two years of teaching were in my hometown of Blackpool.  My favourite thing to do is to go on holiday - especially to America. I love shopping and I am a huge Disney fan!
