Meet our Governors

We are now part of Bradgate Education Partnership. Please click here to see Governance details for the Bradgate Education Partnership.

ianwilkinsonHello, I am Ian Wilkinson and currently Chair of Governors at Swallowdale School.

I have been involved with the school both as a parent (my four children all attended the school) and governor for about 27 years.

There have been many changes, but throughout that time the welfare, safety and educational standards for our children have been uppermost in my mind. I am particularly proud that the last Ofsted inspectors recognised the quality of the school when it considered us to be ‘Outstanding’.

The school is fortunate in having a dedicated governing body, a group of individuals drawn from all walks of life and experiences. It is made up of elected parents, school staff and co-opted representatives who serve for a period of 4 years.

Our role is to work in partnership with the Head teacher to raise standards and performance at Swallowdale. To do this the governors meet as a full body at least once a term in order to support, challenge, plan and monitor all aspects of school activities and to seek the best way forward. Smaller, dedicated committees are involved in financial planning and auditing, the delivery of the curriculum and performance targets, health and safety and the development of Swallowdale’s staff. Strategic long term planning is carried out to ensure the success of the school as it faces the many challenges of the future.

The governing body and Swallowdale’s dedicated staff have a close working relationship which enables us to pursue our common goal, the highest educational standards for your children.
